I've often said that the reason republiCons lie to reporters, is because they can. Big E, in a story here on MnProgressiveProject.com demonstrates Kline lying on Esme Murphy's show last weekend; that's NOT the first time a republiCon has lied to Esme - Norm Coleman, a/ka "The Fourth Most Corrupt Senator," lied to Esme as documented here last February.
Not to be outdone in blatant mendacity, Mary Kiffmeyer wrote a Letter To The Editor last Saturday, November 14th. The scandal over a failed faith-based banking venture that lasted a mere six years in Otsego was at issue. While the whole letter needs to be fact checked (and, it will!), one claim clearly stood out:
"I personally did not own or operate a bank nor do I own a "holding company". My husband Ralph and I, along with over 85 other small investors from the community put money into a start-up community bank in 2003 by purchasing shares of stock,..." Mary Kiffmeyer, 14 Nov. 2009, CitizenNewspaper.com
Sources of Compensation
Name Of Source
Riverview Community Bank - Director and Owner
Now, keep in mind that Mary Kiffmeyer certified that the required information provided to the Campaign Finance Board was "complete, true and correct" - under penalty of law.
Everybody catch the disconnect? In March 2009, under penalty of law, Mary Kiffmeyer reported she owned a bank; in November 2009 she wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper saying she didn't.
Was Mary Kiffmeyer lying then, or is she lying now?
I'm guessing now; reporters like, say, Esme Murphy, don't do squat when GOPers like, say, Mary Kiffmeyer, lie to them.
Let's go to the WayBack Machine (actually, MnBlue.com archives), and look at what happened when two people dropped the F-Bomb (forever after, known as "The (cheney) Bomb"):
What am I referring to? John Forbes Kerry's interview with Rolling Stone magazine, where - referring to Boy Blunder's handling of The War Of Choice - John Forbes Kerry asked, and I quote:
"Did I expect George Bush to f--- it up as badly as he did? I don't think anybody did."
And that IS true; who expected that Boy Blunder would create "The Mother Of All FUBARs?"
The title of the post, back on February 15th of this year, was: RNC's Michael Steele: "You have absolutely no reason - none - to trust our words or our actions at this point."
And that was BEFORE the crazy "birther" stuff, and a whole bunch of other bogus stuff slung by the GOPers nationally. Well, and locally too, by FEC Tony and MudSlingerMike. So, since some things never change, here that post is again - Michael Steele telling the world there is no reason - NONE - to trust what the GOP has to say.
Yep - that's the RNC's Michael Steele talking; talking to Glenn Beck. Beck was saying conservatives can't trust today's GreedOverPrinciples party; I submit NO ONE can trust today's GreedOverPrinciples party. Let's watch, and then - below the fold - I'll elaborate:
On the way down south, the radio talking heads repeatedly tried to covince me that Jesus loves me, and wants me to vote Republican.
The first part I already knew; the second I don't believe.
Since arriving in N'Awlins, I've become reassurred that although Rod BadHairJob and the Illinois Politicians might be pretenders to the title of "Most Corrupt State", Louisiana got it down.
In today's local paper is another column devoted to Democrats Behaving Badly:
Since he burst onto the public stage alongside his onetime boss, Mayor Ray Nagin, Greg Meffert has been called many things.Computer nerd. Husband and father. Strip club regular. Former City Hall technology chief who oversold himself as deputy mayor, a position that doesn't exist. Good-government crusader gone bad.
Now, newly acquired records from the city subcontractor who gave Meffert a company credit card while working under his supervision suggest yet another label: Kept man.
Here's the part that made me snort coffee all over the hotel's keyboard:
Meffert's attorney, Randy Smith, insisted there's an honorable explanation for all of this.
Well, as poorly as those Lousianna people behave, at least they make the effort to answering questions. Some folk don't even bother with an effort.
We'll get to that, later. Right now, there's beignets at Cafe Du Monde to deal with.
It's been asked why I mock, ridicule, and scorn republiCons; it's for the old-fashioned reason: they've EARNED it. Which, of course, is why I mocked, ridiculed, and scorned Mitch Berg the other day, and piled-on the mockery, scorning, and ridicule of Craig Westover the day before that. Spotty really did a fine job of harpooning lampooning Captain FishSticks Craig Westover, in a post entitled "Beware The Snides Of March over at The Cucking Stool. Captain FishStickes Craig Westover used a "..."parable" -- an extended metaphor, if you will (Westover's words) and was promptly fisked to the bones by a few bloggers residing in the reality-based world.
Lately, rightwingnuts are trying to ressurect Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" as a "parable - an extended metaphor, if you will" to justify the class warfare the Bill McGuires and other Achievers in the BoardRoomWorld have waged against the middle class.
One conclusion? Rightwingnuts love "parables" and "extended metaphors" but can't stand satire. Well, another is that they're nuckin' futs, but - that's likely a topic for a different thread.
So, while I doubt they'll understand the mockery, ridiculing, and scorning Stephen Colbert unleashes in his "The Word" sigment, just the other night, those in the reality-based community more than likely will:
Apparently, Mitch Berg doesn't like Jon Stewart. Why would I say that? Well, here's a portion of what Mitch posted this morning:
It's A Sad Commentary...
By Mitch Berg
...when a smug, preening, pseudo-Ivy-league prettyboy who has convinced a generation of bobbleheads that snark is news and who couldn't tie his shoes without a couple of writers and producers working the angles for him...
Mitch then goes on to describe the ripping Stewart gave Jim Cramer, of CNBC. Mitch ends his post with:
Outside conservative talkradio, anyway.
What Mitch is trying to claim here, is that "conservative talkradio" has higher standards.
Yeah, "right."
Well, I wondered what Mitch Berg thought of the infamously "conservative" Talon News and it's equally infamous "correspondent" - the "conservative" Jeff Gannon
So I went over to Mitch's blog, and did a search to find out if Mitch was equally indignant about a smug, preening, pseudo-named homosexual prettyboy prostitute who had convinced a whole bunch of rightwingnuts that repeating Boy Blunder's press releases is conservative news...
So, let's take a look at a "conservative correspondent" - Jeff Gannon - from a "conservative news organization" - Talon News! But, we won't look too much!!!
Bottom line, of what we have here? It's Mitch Berg ripping Jon Stewart when he ignored Jeff Gannon and now is attempting to claim the journalistic highground for his fellow righwing travelers.
They have not a clue why they've gotten spanked the last two election cycles, even though one reason is that reasonable people simply cannot reasonably trust that what today's "conservative media types" (such as Mitch Berg) says is true.
While many consider republiCon Ron as "God's Greatest Gift To The DFL" - when Ron is gone, rightwingmedia is more than capable of taking his place.
Last October, Michelle Bachmann went on Chris Matthew's "Hardball" show - and as could have been predicted*, said stuff outrageous, and outrageously stupid. She essentially called then-candidate Barack Obama "anti-American." Not content with smearing Obama, Bachmann went on to question the patriotism of Democratic Members of Congress, too. You can watch her screed at YouTube.
Needless to say, and I'm sure most remember, Little Miss Hiding In the Weeds, after accusing a sitting U.S. Senator of anti-Americanism, then went on by calling for the media to launch a McCarthyite expose into the anti-Americanism of her collegues in the US House. Needless to say, her antics on "Hardball" set off a firestorm.
So, Michelle went on Billo's show, on Faux Fox "News", to deliver her Mea Nota Culpa. Just for nostagia's sake, let's watch! (after the break)
