TPT On Your Radio Today, Friday November 20th!

by: TwoPuttTommy

Fri Nov 20, 2009 at 14:17:57 PM CST

Ladies and Gentlemen, yours truly - the ol' TwoPutter - is hosting tonight's "Minnesota Matters - Friday Edition" on AM-950 KTNF, The Progressive Talk Station!  The show runs from 6:00 to 7pm.  So, tune in your radio today to AM-950, or listen live on your computer, here.  I'll be joined in-studio by Dusty Trice, and perhaps even a special guest!

We're going to be talking a little about Afghanistan (we'll be talking a LOT about Afghanistan in the future), and quite a bit about the ongoing Mary Kiffmeyer Banking Scandal.

We'll definitely play "False Or False Witness!" where one lucky caller will have to correctly identify if a quote I read was actually uttered by Michele Bachmann (answer "False Witness!") or if yours truly, the ol' TwoPutter, simply made it up (answer "false").  The fabulous prize awarded, courtesy of show sponsor Common Good Books, is one copy of Bill Prendergast's exceptional comic book:  False Witness! The Michele Bachmann Story (Volume 2)!

And we might even get a call or two with an update or three from the NetrootsMN Conference in St. Paul!  I'll be there tomorrow morning at the AM-950 table, and in the Legislative Update in the afternoon.  Haven't registered yet?  No problemo, you can do it at the door!

So, again, tune in the radio today to AM-950, or listen live on your computer, here.

Oh, and here's a hint, for tonight's "False Or False Witness!" game:

Congressional Briefing with Rep. Tim Walz at Netroots Minnesota

by: JoeDavis

Wed Nov 18, 2009 at 10:06:51 AM CST

(More to get excited about at Netroots MN -- are you registered yet? - promoted by Joe Bodell)

This post originally appeared on the Alliance for a Better Minnesota blog, where I work.

There is a lot to get excited about at Netroots Minnesota. With two days of engaging panels and workshops, there is sure to be something for every progressive looking to learn how to grow our movement in Minnesota. In addition to all of the panels and trainings, attendees of the conference this weekend are going to have a unique opportunity to spend their lunch hour Saturday with Minnesota's 1st District--The Fightin' First!--Congressional Representative, Tim Walz.

Walz's dedication to people powered politics has been especially visible this summer. When John Kline turned down his offer for a bipartisan town hall and was still hiding from his own constituents, Representative Walz was out hearing what the people of his district had to say, even the ones who disagreed with him. Both on health care and the war in Afghanistan, Walz has impressed his constituents with his command of the issues. From a letter to the Winona Daily News:

"I am proud to say Walz represents me in Washington, D.C. His vast knowledge about the subject and his willingness to hear the questions and concerns from his constituency are admirable.Walz wrote copious notes while numerous speakers spoke for and against the current policy toward Afghanistan. If these thoughtful conversations took place before invading Iraq, a rigorous policy solution could have been drafted...We need to have a serious conversation about U.S. involvement, and Tim Walz is the right person to lead the discussion."

Now you have your chance to hear from Tim Walz. On Saturday, folks at Netroots Minnesota will get the inside scoop on events in Washington from Representative Walz. He will be taking questions via twitter, facebook and in person, making this one of the most interactive Congressional briefings around. You only have two days left to reserve your spot to hear Representative Walz and attend Netroots Minnesota, so head on over and sign up right away.

Fri Nov 13, 2009 at 14:00:00 PM CST

Ladies and Gentlemen, yours truly - the ol' TwoPutter - is hosting both - BOTH! - the Friday Editions of "Quick On The UpTake" AND "Minnesota Matters" on AM-950 KTNF, The Voice of Minnesota!  These shows run from 5:00 to 7pm. So, tune in your radio today to AM-950, or listen live on your computer, here.  Joining in-studio will be Brian Falldin along with Dusty Trice.

I'm Guest Hosting the first hour - "Quick On The UpTake" - because Host Mike McIntee is very busy preparing for the Netroots Minnesota Conference, next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21st and 22nd,  where Mike will be serving on three - THREE! - different panels!  We'll be talking during this hour about the Netroots Minnesota Conference with Denise Cardinal of Alliance for a Better Minnesota!  Also during "Quick On The Uptake, we'll be talking with Coleen Rowley, Time Magazine's 2002 Person Of The Year, about Peace Movement events, including the role of St. Thomas Law Professor Robert Delahunty in the Bush Administration's use of torture.

During the second hour, "Minnesota Matters - Friday Edition" we're going to be talking a little about Afghanistan (we'll be talking a LOT about Afghanistan in the future), a LOT about the race for Governor, and we'll definitely play "False Or False Witness!" where one lucky caller will have to correctly identify if a quote I read was actually uttered by Michele Bachmann (answer "False Witness!") or if yours truly, the ol' TwoPutter, simply made it up (answer "false").  The fabulous prize awarded, courtesy of show sponsor Common Good Books, is one copy of Bill Prendergast's exceptional comic book:  False Witness! The Michele Bachmann Story (Volume 2)!

For more information about Afghanistan, go below the fold; included is a video from last night's "Rachel Maddow Show".

Netroots Minnesota to Feature DFL Gubernatorial Forum

by: XavierLA

Thu Nov 05, 2009 at 14:28:31 PM CST

( - promoted by Populista)

In two weeks, progressives from across Minnesota will gather in St. Paul for a day and a half of panels, trainings, networking opportunities and keynotes--all in an effort to strategize and organize around progressive change.

Netroots Minnesota will be the premier kickoff to the critical conversations progressives will be having as we approach 2010, and today, Denise Cardinal, Executive Director at Alliance for a Better Minnesota, announced a forum for Netroots Minnesota attendees to start the conversation with the candidates running for governor.

The Minnesota 2010 gubernatorial race will be one of the most-watched in the nation.

What should the race be about? How can a progressive win? What role will the Netroots play in the campaign?

These vital questions will be answered by some of the gubernatorial candidates themselves at Netroots Minnesota.

On Friday evening, November 20, DFL candidates for governor will join us at Netroots Minnesota to take questions directly from you.

Get all the details and register at:

http://allianceminnesota.org/NetrootsForum

During a discussion moderated by Star Tribune writer Lori Sturdevant, the candidates will be asked questions solicited online via Twitter (using the hashtag #nmn09gov), Facebook, email, and in person.

This forum, sponsored by Alliance for a Better Minnesota Action Fund, is going to be one of the most interactive and engaging forums for the candidates to date --  be sure to register for Netroots Minnesota to get a front-row seat at this must-see-for-yourself political event.

We just released an updated conference agenda this morning, so take a minute to check out the sessions we have on tap  and click here to reserve your spot at Netroots Minnesota.

Disclosure: I work for Alliance for a Better Minnesota, a proud sponsor of Netroots Minnesota.
