In addition to talking about important news, we'll take a break from politics to have an in-studio conversation with one of Minnesota's Citizen-Soldiers - Major Rickert - which we feel is fitting as a tribute to those who have worn the uniform on this day after Memorial Day. Major Rickert will be talking, among other things, about the recent alert that as many as 2,700 fellow Minnesotans may be deployed to Iraq and Kuwait as that war winds down.
We'll also be joined in-studio by candidate for congress in Minnesota's 2nd District, Dan Powers.

I could not believe it, but today I heard a radio ad about Tarryl Clark's voting record for higher taxes. What radio station was this AD on? AM 950 the Voice of Minnesota. Minnesota's Progressive Talk radio had an ad on there by Michele Bachmann attacking of all things, Tarryl Clark's record in the Minnesota Senate for raising taxes.
Michele Bachmann, we know that you are a hard line, conservative, tea party gal, but do you really think those of us on the progressive side of politics in Minnesota do not know you? Do you really think the rest of us have forgotten about all the times that you introduced a Constitutional Amendment that marriage will only be between one man and one woman? Do you really think we do not know or remember your trying to pull the bill out of committee while Outfront Minnesota was holding their LGBT Lobby Day in 2005? Do you really think that we have all forgotten about your hiding in the bushes for our Lobby Day Rally? Do you, Michele Bachmann, think that those without health care in your Congressional District do not remember that it was you who not only voted against Health Care Reform this past March, but have started a campaign to have it repealed? Do you think Minnesotan's in the 6th Congressional District will forget that their Representative has continued to vote for and with the big corporations, against Wall Street Reform and as of last night against the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell?
All Michele Bachmann can do is attack the record of Tarryl Clark because she cannot talk about what she can do for the people of the 6th Congressional District. Michele Bachmann has to talk about how Tarryl Clark voted to raise taxes which would have helped many Minnesota's public schools stay afloat while Gov. Tim Pawlenty was busy taking those dollars away. Bachmann attacks Clark, because Bachmann cannot talk about anything she really has accomplished for Minnesota or the United States, so her only weapon of choice is to attack Clark's voting record.
If I sound angry, I am. I am so angry that someone who votes against my equal rights as a gay man, can create a radio message against Clark's voting record and use it to smear the hopes of people who can really use some.
May the progressives and democrats and everyone who believes that Government can do better than Michele Bachmann either in the 6th Congressional District OR who cares about the future of the 6th Congressional District, rise and tell their stories. Let them rise and tell how Michele Bachmann talks about "family values" except for LGBT families, individuals and couples. Talk about how Bachmann has been standing in the way of your health care, jobs, financial and personal progress. Make your best voice and reason heard. Because this woman should not be given any further opportunities to further damage individuals and communities as she has done since the day she was elected into the Minnesota Government.

Then we're going to take a break from politics, and talk with a pilot from Minnesota's Air National Guard, who recently returned from a two week disaster relief deployment, flying supplies frrom Puerto Rico to Haiti. The discussion with The Good Captain will be strictly non-partisan. Politics has no place with regards to respecting our fellow citizen-soldiers and supporting the job they do. Our military is all volunteer, and the people that signed up did so knowing that the price they may pay while wearing a uniform might just be the ultimate sacrifice. Anybody with any problem with what our citizen-soldiers do, needs to take it up with our elected officials - NOT the brave men and women wearing our nation's uniform. Period. End of story.

We're going to talk about breaking news, fisk Katherine Kersten's latest column, and discuss a lawsuit accusing Wells Fargo of misleading some Minnesota non-profit foundations that appeared in last Sunday's print edition of the Strib. Apparently, those local non-profits aren't the only ones offended by Wells Fargo's "stewardship". And, just which foundations in that Strib story, allegedly took a hit because of that "stewardship"? The story stated that one is the Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi Foundation. Yes, THAT "Ciresi". Seems to me, that Wells Fargo is in a big world of legal hurt. Unfortunately, Mike Ciresi won't be able to call in about that....today. Maybe later; if I were a betting man, I'd bet a bunch that this story isn't going away.
