Michele Bachmann: the energizer bunny of crazy

The insanity never ends.  Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is the energizer bunny of crazy.  She provided her scary crazy on a Saturday right wing radio show.  Then did her stupid crazy routine today.

Scary crazy (courtesy of Dump Michele Bachmann)

"I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back. Thomas Jefferson told us 'having a revolution every now and then is a good thing,' and the people - we the people - are going to have to fight back hard if we're not going to lose our country. And I think this has the potential of changing the dynamic of freedom forever in the United States."

Stupid Crazy

After about the third time she asked, I would have asked her where in the Constitution it says the desk he is sitting at should be wood. And then asked her to tell me where in the Constitution it says he has to wear clothes.

There are a whole host of things not specifically listed in the Constitution- a wide wide world of government activities- but that doesn't mean that engaging in those activities is "unconstitutional." Geithner's actions do not derive their authority directly from something written into the Constitution several hundred years ago, but from the authority that Congress granted him when they passed the respective bills. In fact, the very reason we have things called "Constitutional Scholars" is because everything isn't spelled out verbatim in the Constitution.

"do not derive their authority directly from something written into the Constitution several hundred years ago, but from the authority that Congress granted him when they passed the respective bills."
Great!  Then the Iraq War, voted on by the Congress, was constitutional.
The Patriot Act, voted on several times by Congress, was constitutional.
As long as Congress approves it, bingo, it's constitutional!

Hey, wait a minute, that line didn't work so well for Nixon.

Apply the same standard (0.00 / 0)
the Judiciary should be reviewing ALL of these things when asked to determine their constitutionality. My guess is that an independent judiciary, free from the politics of the day, would find that elements of the Bush Administration's conduct of its Iraq campaign under the AUMF were indeed unconstitutional, as are many elements of the Patriot Act. If they were to review the bill giving Geithner the authority he now holds and find it lacking in constitutionality, then we'd have a problem on our hands, and it would have to be addressed.

But Dave, I've never found your comments elsewhere to be interested in real academic, logical, or civic rigor, and this is no different.

Bachmann: Stupidity Beyond Belief (0.00 / 0)
Bachmann gave her for unquestioning support to Bush the Lesser and now has the gall to warn us about what Barack Obama is about to "bring upon our country."

As for Bachmann's "stupid crazy" routine, I applaud the Treasury Secretary for not asking the wacko if she was off her meds.  It's simply embarrassing to have such an idiot representing Minnesota.

I noticed that the upcoming neanderthal freeper speech that she hyped is at St. Cloud State University.  What's up with St. Cloud?  SCSU was also the source of the most obviously biased Senate race poll of 2008, showing Coleman ahead of Franken by 9 points and with the 3 major candidates totaling just 79 percent.
