The Weakest Link - Losing The Messaging War

We lost the messaging war.  Thom Hartmann nails part/most of it: "The rightwing media won the elections".

Thom Hartmann, of course, is talking about the messaging war.  And we lost a big battle in that messaging war - BIG TIME - here in Minnesota; a battle we actually could have competed in.

Which battle is that, you ask?   Check out the picture below, taken at the State GOP Convention last spring:

"Anyone know what this is? Class? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone seen this before?"

This one single picture explains 90% of why the MNGOP just ate the DFL's lunch. Let's fix it.

Agreed.

And what ever happened to the "social media consultant" that the Dayton team hired??? Did that help anything? (Or the consultant just instructed Dayton not to use Twitter anymore?)

Social Media (0.00 / 0)
The DFL should be ashamed. They were not even on Twitter up until less then a year ago. They have no presence on Facebook. This is not okay.

I sent about ten emails about this about a year ago and got no response from my local DFL person in Bloomington, MN. I think it is clear that a change in leadership is needed.

If the message truly is the problem, then we have to change it.

If the problem is that Americans really do not want socially liberal/progressive policy, then that is a whole other story.

I tend to believe that the message along with failed measures by democrat leadership has caused this.

I think we have to ask ourselves. Where do we go from here? Do we stand firm on our beliefs or do we try to cooperate with a Republican party that does not want to compromise?

Not without the Mainstream Media's help (0.00 / 0)
Right Wing media certainly had an impact.  But they couldn't have had such an effect without help from the mainstream media, which acted like an echo chamber, pretended there were two equally valid sides to every story and failed to point out crazies for what they were (e.g. Bachmann, Palin and the Tea Party nuts).

RW-friendly corporate media is at least as big a threat to our country as the flawed Supreme Court decision that's allowing unlimited corporate (and apparently also foreign) money to buy elections.
