| The big prize this weekend is the Senate District 6 convention, where 16 delegates will be elected.
Other than that, there really isn't much going on -- a very small number of delegates remain to be elected across the state.
SD06 could be interesting -- it's Tom Bakk's home district, and he really needs a clean sweep to stay competitive with Tom Rukavina in the lower tier of delegate totals. Word is that Rukavina's team is preparing a full-court press to pick up more delegates from northern Minnesota -- readers from Duluth might provide us with some live updates, if they were so inclined.
The other elections are a complicated picture -- there are several Senate District conventions going on this weekend, but in areas where their constituent County Units have already elected state convention delegates. These SD meetings will instead take care of other party business and endorse candidates for the Legislature.
If you're going to be at a convention this weekend, make sure to drop in and let us know how it goes, whether state convention delegates are elected or not. |
