TwoPutt On The Radio, Tonight - What Would You Ask A "Tea Party Patriot"?

Ladies and Gentlemen, yours truly - the ol' TwoPutter - is Guest Hosting tonight's Wednesday Edition of "Minnesota Matters" on AM-950 KTNF, The Voice of Minnesota!  And we're going to have two very special guests in studio - Toni Backdahl, the State Coordinator for the Minnesota Tea Party Patriots, and LTC(Ret.) Joe Repya, who recently suspended his bid for Governor under the Independence Party banner.

It should be a fascinating conversation, and I'm sure one of the subjects discussed will be Former Senator Dean Barkley's invitation for the Tea Party to take over the IP Party.

The Listener Call-In Number is 952-946-6205, or, if you have a question you'd like me to ask of either Ms. Backdahl or Colonel Repya, submit it below in the comments section!

So, again, tune in the radio today to AM-950, or listen live on your computer, here.

Wow, that is interesting!

hmm, serious matters (0.00 / 0)
Hi TwoPutt,

I'd ask Joe Repya if he's still running/ what's his plan.  I'd also ask him what he thinks is the middle?  (Independents used to be the middle, and the Tea Party is more like far right libertarians.)

I'd ask the Tea Party people if they are secessionists, just like the first Tea Party people were.

I'd ask the Tea Party people:  Don't you get that WE are the government, and that is what makes us different than what happens in other countries? (My thoughts, WE are the government, our government is good, helping, and listening).

I'd ask the Tea Party members if IOU's to the schools are okay. If they say YEP I'd ask if they already homeschool and if they do, how can they be sure they are preparing their kids to be good workers?

Bad idea (0.00 / 0)
I don't have a question, but I do have a comment that I think Barkley is way off base to suggest the Tea Party take over the Independence Party.  The whole concept of the IP is rational and innovative ideas, not baseless outrage as advocated by the Tea Party.  And the idea that the IP is the sole creation of the IP is as laughable as Al Gore invented the internet.

I'd ask.... (0.00 / 0)
If the Tea Party guy actually realized the real Tea Partiers were protesting a tax CUT. The tea partiers were actually protesting the take over by a multi-national corporation, the British East India company. The tax cut made tea super cheap, allowing the British East India (Walmart) the ability to undercut all the American merchants.

So, I would ask the Tea Party guy if he is just as afraid of the corporate take over of America as he is of the government take over.

Thanks,
Alec

I'd probably ask them to leave the studio. (0.00 / 0)
That's probably why I'm not on the radio, though...

Ask about the tax cuts (0.00 / 0)
Ask the tea partier if she knows most Americans received a tax cut in the Recovery Act. Have your documentation at hand, because I doubt she'll believe you.

Why didn't they protest the Wall Street bailout when Bush was in office?

Does she know the difference between the bailout and the stimulus?

Does she understand the theory behind fiscal stimulus in a recession, and does she know it worked to dig us out of the Depression?

What does she think would have happened without the Wall Street bailout? Does she get that flawed as it is, the economic collapse would have been far worse without it?

Does she know that Medicare is a government single-payer program? Along the same lines, if she likes the VA, does she understand that it's fully socialized?

What country does she think we should emulate for health care reform?

More questions (0.00 / 0)
Is global warming a hoax, and if so, which part? Does she believe the greenhouse effect is real, or have scientists been pulling a hoax for 150 years? If it's real, then what is the inevitable consequence adding more greenhouse gases to the atmosphere?

If she doesn't trust the government to reform the financial system, then who else can stand up to Wall Street?

If the government sucks at everything.... (0.00 / 0)
Why have medicare satisfaction rates beaten the private market ratings for 10 straight years?

http://www.nationaljournal.com...

The VA also beats the private market by 10%.

When it comes to making widgets, the profit motive and capitalism are awesome forces.

When it comes to helping people, it's not always an efficient process to save someone who is sick. The profit motive works against patients because it is most efficient to deny care. Let the private market make their widgets, and let society care for our sick. We do it better, and it is proven.

As a democrat that often votes for IP candidates (I will be doing it again this year if MAK or Dayton is the nominee), I would like to encourage all of you to read the comments of the Minnesota Independent story made by Peter Tharaldson (He's the IP district 5 chair).  Again, here's the link:

This isn't even an issue and it is not an attack that will stick.  Anyone that takes a serious look at Horner would realize that he is very different from the Tea Parties.

And about Repya, personally I think all signs point to his campaign being done for good.  He closed down his website and deleted all of his social networking sites.  These moves are not made by someone that is hoping restart a campaign.

Also take a look at state chair Jack Uldrich's comments on this subject:

Good Radio Show (0.00 / 0)
I listened to your show tonight and I would just like to say I really enjoyed it. I listen to allot of talk radio and it was refreshing to hear some other views. I think it would be great to have some debates with opposing parties and dialog. Thanks for the good show.
