| The DFL may soon have a second candidate vying to take on first-term Congressman Erik Paulsen.
Maureen Hackett, a military veteran and doctor, has been mentioned in recent days as a potential candidate. According to sources in the DFL, she has a campaign treasurer onboard and is strongly considering announcing for the race soon.
Hackett would join Minnesota PTA President Jim Meffert-Nelson in a race for the DFL nod to face Paulsen. Meffert has been making the rounds at party and community events, and appears ready to announce as well.
As previously noted with Meffert-Nelson, any DFL candidate will start down a tough path in taking on Paulsen, who will have had a full election cycle of aggressive fundraising under his belt. However, the fact that Paulsen only garnered 48% of the vote in 2008 means that both national parties will be keeping a close eye on the race. |
