Breaking News: Bachmann Town Hall Scheduled for August 27th!

Did the person you spoke to tell you specifically that it was going to be "a town hall meeting"?

Let me tell you why I ask. On MPR today, in post about congressional reps who are or aren't having town hall meetings--the Bachmann event is billed as a "forum."

Bachmann has had "forums" before (eg, one on climate change.) People who show up for these are told that Bachmann will be taking any questions from the audience.

It's not a "town hall meeting" if the politician doesn't take unscreened questions from constituents, see?

But the media keeps billing these as "Bachmann town hall meetings," so she gets to claim them as such. I haven't heard of any real Bachmann town hall meeting (where she takes questions from the audience) for years. You may want to call back and see if she's going to be taking unscreened questions from the audience at this August 27 event--that would be a really big news story on Bachmann.

Here's the link to the MPR story, notice the difference in the wording about the Bachmann Aug 27 event, versus the wording about the other congressmens' town hall meeting events:

"6th District: U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R, will hold a forum on health care on Thurs. Aug. 27. Her office said it will release the time and location next week."
