Republican Party of Minnesota - Sore Losers.

Incredible.  At the same time Norm Coleman  played the "gracious concession" act,  the State Republican Party showed their true colors with their official press release:

St. Paul- Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman-elect Tony Sutton today issued the following statement regarding the Minnesota Supreme Court's ruling in the U.S. Senate race.

"Today's ruling wrongly disenfranchised thousands of Minnesotans who deserve to have their votes counted.  Alongside Senator Coleman, the Republican Party of Minnesota has fought to make sure every vote counts and all voters are treated fairly and uniformly.  As we move forward, our deeply flawed election system must be dramatically improved to ensure our state's elections are fair, accurate and reliable." (Republican Party of Minnesota)

In other words, "Norm wuz robbed."

Classless.

That's the way the state GOP Party was under former Chairman Ron Carey; that's the way it will remain under new Chairman  Tony Sutton.

These a-holes are the ones who stopped reform (0.00 / 0)
Pawlenty vetoed every election reform bill the last two years, and his reason for doing so was that no Republicans supported them! The fact is this was an incredibly accurate election, and I doubt any other state could have done as well. The number of votes in dispute was incredibly tiny.

Besides, if the republicans want to count the rejected ballots, fine. I'm confident they'll learn only that Franken's margin would have been bigger.

Agreed! (0.00 / 0)
No changes need be made to the present system which is easily the best in the country.  Kudos to Secretary of State Mark Richie!

Well, some (0.00 / 0)
I wouldn't say no changes should be made. If fact, Ritchie has proposed some of those changes the DFL legislature passed, like revising the motor-voter law so registration would be automatic when an eligible voter gets a drivers license unless they opt out, rather than having to ask for the voter registration form. He also proposed having registration update when a voter moves rather than registering all over again. The Republicans complain about how long it's taken to process election day registrations, but most of those would have been unnecessary had Ritchie's reforms already been in place.

Pawlenty also vetoed early voting, which would have avoided most of the absentee ballots.
