When you visit this site - and we are grateful, every time - you may have noticed ads to the right. (Incidentally, if you have a moment, we encourage you to click on one, some, or many, especially those from conservative organizations. That helps MnPP pay the bills.) One that I've been seeing a lot of brings you to this page, featuring a certain embattled politician to our east. It is claimed, therein:The reforms that we have put in place in Wisconsin over the last 12 months have helped private businesses create thousands of jobs, turned a $3.6 billion budget deficit into a surplus, without raising taxes or cutting essential services, and led to 88% of Wisconsin job creators saying that Wisconsin is headed in the right direction, up from just 10% one year ago. Reality check: (Note that the article is from the conservative-leaning - at times, more like "uncontrollably staggering to starboard" - Associated Press.)Wisconsin's state budget condition has worsened to the point that Gov. Scott Walker and possibly the Legislature will need to take emergency steps to avoid being out of balance.
The nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau on Thursday released the new projections that show the two-year budget will be $143 million short of balancing by July 2013...
The budget news also comes in the wake of six straight months of job losses in Wisconsin. That article also notes the brutal cuts to Wisconsin schools, which aren't exactly highlighted on the Walker-pimping site. To belabor the obvious, honesty isn't his strong suit, or that of Tea Party politicians in general.
There but for...Thank goodness, or whatever you like, for Governor Dayton. And the fact that we get to retake the Minnesota legislature, in under nine months. |
